The Haryana state government was launching its e-kharid
portal for procurement of paddy in the upcoming procurement
season starting this month.
• The Centre has
constituted a four-member Insolvency
and Bankruptcy Board of India(IBBI) under the Chairmanship
of Madhusudan Sahoo.
• Gujarat CM Vijay
Rupani inaugurated a 34-ft long ‘Lamp of Humanity’ in
Ahmedabad, as part of the Vibrant Navratri celebrations.
The lamp is made up of stainless steel34-feet long and has a diameter of 15.8
feet, with the authorities claiming that the initiative has already entered the
Guinness
Book of World Records, as the ‘world’s biggest lamp’.
• Arunachal
Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu flagged off an
all-women Mt Gorichen expedition.This would be the first all women team
attempting to summit the second highest peak of the state, which is considered
as a technical peak and only seasoned climbers can make it to the top (6,488
m).
• Abu Dhabi Crowned Prince(Mohammed
bin Zayed Al Nahyan) to be
Chief Guest on 2017 Republic Day
• The Supreme Court
charged a cost of Rs.25,000 on Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jainfor
failing to file an affidavit naming the officials allegedly not cooperating in
checking the menace of dengue and chikun gunya in the national capital.
• Odisha Chief Minister
Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a number of new projects in Ganjam
district, Odisha. He opened an OPD centre in Sheragada hospital and a
panchyat building.He also inaugurated the new urban water supply project for
the Hinjili Notified Area Council(NAC) area readied at an estimated cost of Rs
6.14-crore.
• Centre approves a
grant of Rs. 515 Crores
for the development of Sagar Port Project in West Bengal
• The government has
notified that Aadhaar is mandatory for availing cooking gas (LPG)
subsidies but has given two months grace period for citizens to get the
unique identification number.
• The Ministry of Water
Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has constituted a
high-level technical team, headed by Central Water Commission (CWC) Chairman GS
Jha, to visit the Cauvery basin area and assess the ground.
• Social networking
site Facebook is collaborating
with the Election Commission of India in five states going
to polls next year to run a voter registration drive aimed at encouraging youth
to participate in the democratic exercise. The five states are Uttar
Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand for the first time in the country
to run a voter registration drive.
• The Union government
has accepted the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission on Modified
Assured Career Progression (MACP) for Central employees which would ensure
one minimum promotion for every 10 years till 30 years of service.
• Odisha Chief
Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 100 urban piped drinking water supply
projects
• Indian mountaineer
Arjun Vajpai scaled world’s sixth highest mountain Cho Oyu. The mountain is
located on the China-Nepal border at an altitude of 8188 meters above the sea
level.
• The Union Minister of
Human Resource and Development, Prakash Javadekar inaugurated the Green building
and Shatabdi Krishi Bhawan at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in the wake of
holding a review meeting VCs of Central Universities.
• Union Minister for
Railways Suresh Prabhu flagging-off the first freight train in New Delhi which
featured a newly-developed guard van, which uses solar power to run fans and
lights at Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station.
• Maharashtra government has
allocated 40.68 hectare land
in Hingloi to
Department of Atomic Energy(DAE) for LIGO India Project. The Laser Interferometer
Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) project that was given the
in-principle approval by the Cabinet planned to construct in Hingoli district,
Maharshtra. It is third LIGO laboratory in the world and first laboratory
outside the United States. The existing laborataries are located in Hanford,
Washington, and in Livingston, Louisiana.
• The Centre had
approved projects worth Rs.350 crore for developing infrastructure at
heritage sites Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu, Minister of Urban Development inaugurated
a two day conference on Heritage Cities. The conference was being jointly
organised by Ministry of Urban Development and Indian Heritage Cities Network
(IHCN).
• Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda
Sonowal inaugurated first
Model Skill Development Centre “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra”
at Panjabari, Guwahati.
• The government would “completely seal”
the India-Pakistan border by
December 2018, was announced by Union home minister Rajnath
Singh as part of an extensive plan to monitor the country’s
frontier security.
• The National Security
Advisory Board (NSAB) had been reconstituted with P S
Raghavan, former Ambassador to Russia,
as its head. The NSAB
deals with internal and external security, foreign affairs, defence, science
and technology and economic affairs and normally meets at least once in a
month.
• India would have 100 %
electrification for all by May 1, 2017 was the
announcement made by the Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal.
He has the confident that 100 per cent electrification in rural, Left-Wing
Extremism(LWE) districts and dense forests would be achieved by May 1, 2017, a
year ahead of the schedule Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
