Educational Qualification: 
Bachelor/Master’s Degree from a recognized Indian University/ Institution.
LIC AAO Selection Procedure: 
Selection Procedure: Selection will be made on the basis of performance in the on-line test followed by a personal interview of short listed candidates and subsequent Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination.
1. Online Test: On-line test will be of objective type, multiple choice of two hours duration comprising of the following:
a. Reasoning Ability
b. Quantitative Aptitude
c. General Knowledge, Current Affairs
d. Computer Knowledge
e. English Language with Special emphasis on Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension.
Penalty for Wrong Answers:
i. There will be a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one fourth (1/4 ) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate; there will be no penalty for that question.
ii. Candidate must pass in each paper separately and also obtain minimum marks in the aggregate of the two papers to qualify for the interview. The minimum marks to be obtained in each paper and in the aggregate shall be decided by LIC of India.
iii. The marks obtained by the candidate in each paper and in the aggregate shall be arrived at after deduction of the marks for wrong answers.
iv. Appearing in the online examination or mere pass in the online examination shall not vest any right in a candidate to be called for Personal Interview.

2. Interview:
i. Candidates who successful in the Online test will be called for an Interview. Candidate who does not obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the Interview shall be disqualified for further selection.
ii. The number of candidates to be called for interview will be about three times the number of vacancies to be filled in subject to availability of successful candidates in the online examination and will be purely as per their ranking in their respective category.

3. Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates will have to undergo a Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination and if found medically fit, will be offered appointment.

RBI Assistant is undoubtedly one of the most revered and respected jobs for the aspirants trying to fit in the banking sector. It is not everyday that one gets to work at the Reserve Bank of India.

Comparison with other Bank Jobs

RBI Assistant Job despite the fact that it is a clerical cadre job preferred by the majority of aspirants as compared to a Bank PO. Let us look at the following points to understand the situation better:

• Transfers: Transfer in RBI takes place after five years of service while in other banks the transfer takes place every three years.
• Rural postings: RBI doesn’t have branches in rural areas so the employees are mostly posted in urban localities while other banks post their employees in rural areas quite often.
• Work pressure: Other nationalized banks have tremendous work pressure regarding business generation, meeting the targets for the bank while in Reserve Bank of India there is no such pressure so the job is less stressful.

• Working Days and Timings: Work timings in Reserve Bank of India are 9.15AM to 5.15 PM and RBI works 5 days a week. The situation is different in other nationalized banks as they have loads of work and targets to complete.

RBI Assistant Salary

• Basic pay: Rs. 15,060/- per month
• Pay scale: Rs. 13150-750 (3)-15400- 900(4) -19000-1200(6)-26200-1300 (2)-28800- 1480(3) – 33240 – 1750 (1)- 34990 (20 years).
• Allowances: It includes Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible from time to time.
• Gross emoluments: Approximately Rs. 32,429/- per month.
• Accommodation: Subject to availability.
• Reimbursements: For expenses for maintenance of vehicle for official purpose, newspaper, briefcase, book Grant, allowance for the furnishing of residence, etc. as per eligibility.
• Dispensary facilities: Apart from reimbursement of medical expenses for OPD treatment/hospitalization as per eligibility) RBI assistants also gets certain dispensary facilities.
• Loans and Advances: Granted at concessional rates of interest for Housing, Car, Education, Consumer Articles, and Personal Computer.
• Governance: By the Defined Contribution New Pension Scheme, in addition to the benefits of Gratuity.
• Total Annual Pay: Including allowances along with admissible perquisites attached to the post of RBI Assistant (excluding the value of housing) works out at the minimum to Rs. 3, 80,000/- p.a. (approximately).
